Kevin Liles, the visionary co-founder and CEO of 300 Entertainment, is making headlines with his recent decision to step down from the label he helped build into a powerhouse.
Known for launching the careers of superstars like Megan Thee Stallion, Young Thug, and Migos, Liles has played an instrumental role in shaping the hip-hop landscape.
In a resignation letter obtained by Billboard, Liles informed staff that he will be “stepping aside” by the end of the month. Although he’s leaving his day-to-day role, Liles will remain involved as a consultant until the end of the year, providing guidance during this transitional period.
This move comes amidst major shifts within Warner Music Group (WMG), the parent company of 300 Entertainment. Recently, WMG saw the departures of key executives, including CEO Max Lousada and Julie Greenwald, the head of Atlantic Records.
Liles shared that he plans to dedicate more time to his ongoing efforts to fight for justice, particularly focusing on ending the criminalization of hip-hop lyrics, an issue highlighted by the prosecution of Young Thug.
